COVID-19 Health News & Announcements

ISH’s Commitment to Cleanliness.

Since our founding 55 years ago, International Students House (ISH) has always placed an emphasis on the health and safety for our residents and guests. The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to raise our standards to an even higher level with new arrangements for the current circumstances.

ISH has put in place a multi-pronged approach designed to meet the health and safety challenges presented by COVID-19. Below is an overview of the key components of ISH’s commitment to cleanliness.

  • ISH Emergency Responce Team: Consisting of in-house and outside experts in hygiene, health and safety, food safety, and operations, the ERT will continue to work to develop new cleanliness standards and behaviours for our House.
  • New Cleaning Practice: While our team develops its work, we have initiated plans to roll out enhanced cleaning regimes at our House over the next few months, including the use of highest classification of disinfectants, recommended by the UK Government and the World Health Organization and to sanitize surfaces throughout the House.
  • Other Regimen Changes: When guests check into the House over the next few months, they will notice a number of additions to our cleaning regimen designed to set an even higher standard of cleanliness for ISH as well as modifications to resident-guest protocols developed to be consistent with recommended social distancing guidelines.

The steps we’re taking on cleanliness norms are as much about the health and safety of residents as they are about our guests. If we’ve learned anything during this pandemic, it is that we are all in this together. By taking care of residents and following these new protocols – we will be collectively taking care of our guests and the global community that we have supported since we opened our doors.

There are countless moments of humanity and resilience – We see them in how ISH staff and individual residents are responding to the crisis around them, and that fills us with tremendous hope for the future. We don’t know when the COVID-19 pandemic will be over or when our lives will return to normal, but we want our guests and our residents to know that when the time comes to travel again, we will be ready to welcome them back to a safe and clean House.

Until that time, please stay safe and healthy.
